Our Journey 2006/3/9
Dear dad & mom,
In the days of my childhood, the task of you was to raise and nurture a healthy child.
In the days of my teens, the task of Uncle Ellick and Aunty Sue was to preserve that child from disruption from without.
In this day, my task is to save that very child and its future from disruption from within.
In the end, this kid turned out to be alright and I am extremely grateful for everything you have done for me. You have made us proud; you must expect the same from us and I surely will make you proud (hopefully rather sooner than later). There are times you couldn’t be with us to share the moments of our lives but I know your heart and soul are always with us. Today, it is our responsibility and chance to return the goodwill. While I could only express my most sincere support and concern in mere words, I can assure you that these are no ordinary words.
Dad, in all these years, you have been a person whom I looked up to and I have witnessed the rise and fall of your career. This pitfall should not be the end; it’s only a part of the process and what matters the most is the end result. I want you to know that mom is a brave woman, wife, and mother; and your sons are yet to be anything but we have the tools, knowledge and experience you have given us to take on the world. Though we’ve been silent, I pray to god every night to give you confidence and good health. So now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of despair to the pedestal of brilliance. Now is the time to lift your spirit and return to your role as a father, husband and public servant. Whatever lies ahead might seem doubtful but you will always have us.
Your son,
Jack
